Iron Maiden Twickenham Stadium Concert + My time in London
Posted by Bahamut Jul. 8, 2008 @ 5:41 PM EDTIt was my fourth time going to London seeing my sister and her boyfriend. I had a great time when I visited there the last three times, but this time, it was FUCKING AWESOME!
We left home on Friday morning to go on the coach to London. There were no problems with the coach, so I didn't mind the long journeys there and back. However, the trains are much much better.
So we got to the flat, but my sister's boyfriend wasn't there since he was still on the plane heading back home from Burma. For the first night, I was playing on the PS3 and had a good go at Crash Team Racing, which I haven't played in YEARS. My original disc of the game no longer works, so I couldn't play on the game for a long time. Also, I wasn't too keen on getting it from Amazon considering there's no New condition copies of the game. I'm not fond of second hand games.
That wasn't the highlight of the night, however. My sister gave me an envelope and asked me to open it. Obviously I did and inside the envelope was...
TWO TICKETS TO SEE IRON MAIDEN ON 5TH JULY!! 0__0
This was a huge fucking surprise for me since I didn't even think I was going to see them that day. I did once considered getting tickets to see them, but I was told by my sister that the tickets for that event were sold out, which made me very disappointed. She did this because those tickets were an early birthday present from her. She claimed to have bought those tickets last November, so EVERYONE kept quiet about it until I was given the tickets.
Originally, I was going down to London to see my sister's boyfriend coming back from his holiday and to shop around in central London, but instead of going to shops, I went to see Iron Maiden on Saturday night instead (duh).
[sorry Newgrounds, this part had to be cut out]
Anyway, onto the main part of my weekend in London. Me and my sister left the flat to head to Twickenham Stadium. It took two hours there and back, but to see one of my favourite bands (perhaps my very favourite) on stage, it was fucking worth it! We arrived at the stadium at 6PM, despite the whole concert started at 3:30PM with support bands playing first. We weren't too keen on the support artists (Lauren Harris, Within Temptation and Avenged Sevenfold) so we agreed that it was better waiting later on when the main band were ready to play on stage.
When we arrived at the stadium, we had a look at the merchandise that was being sold at the stadium. With the money I was originally going to spend on stuff in central London, I bought a shirt and a mug from the store. I can't find a picture of what the mug looks like, but the shirt basically had this cover on the front and this cover on the back. Those two pictures are single covers for some of my favourite Maiden songs of all time, which is why I chose that shirt over the others.
After getting what we wanted from the store, we headed to our reserved seats, which were roughly around the centre of the stadium facing towards the stage. My sister claimed they were the best seats at the stadium and I'd say she's right. It was great to have a good view seeing the band and to sit down until Maiden came on.
Iron Maiden finally got on stage and the whole crowd were really excited. The band started off with Churchill's Speech followed by Aces High. Aces High is my favourite song of theirs, so playing that song first was a good way to kick off the show. The other songs they played were also great and I sung along to all of them. Here is the setlist for that night:
Intro - Churchill's Speech
Aces High
2 Minutes to Midnight
Revelations
The Trooper
Wasted Years
The Number of the Beast
Rime of the Ancient Mariner
Powerslave
Heaven Can Wait
Can I Play With Madness
Run to the Hills
Fear of the Dark
Iron Maiden
Encore:
Moonchild
The Clairvoyant
Hallowed Be Thy Name
For their current tour, all the songs they play are from the 80's (with the exception of Fear of the Dark), which was a huge treat for me considering most of my favourite songs of theirs are from that time. Unfortunate for me, there were some other favourite songs of mine that weren't played for this tour. But hey, the fact that I loved every song they played that night made it up. :D
Overall, the concert was brilliant! This is actually the first gig I've ever been to and it certainly will be one of the best, if not, my best gig ever! Around 55,000 people attended that night, which was said to be the biggest Maiden gig yet in the UK. Not only that, the lead singer Bruce Dickinson claimed this was one of the best gigs he ever played, so I felt honoured to have attended such a great event! :)
This is without a doubt one of the greatest days of my life and I'd like to thank my sister for buying the tickets for my birthday and my family for keeping this quiet the whole time and of course, the band themselves for touring around the world and playing such a great show at Twickenham Stadium last Saturday. Whenever they play in England again, I will love to attend to see them playing live again. My only suggestion for next time would be to have better support bands than the ones who were at Twickenham.
So on Sunday, me, my sister, her boyfriend and the flatmate decided to watch Hancock at the local cinema (OH, SPOILER WARNING). This movie I've been interested in ever since I saw the trailer and hearing a bit about what it's about. I liked the idea of the superhero in this movie who wasn't just another superhero and was Anti-hero-ish, but they seriously fucked up the second half of the movie. The plot seemed to have changed all of sudden and never explained well about how Hancock improved his act from his alcohol problems and bad attitude. The other part of the film explaining different stuff also made the movie worse. Seriously, the new Indiana Jones movie had a better ending than this and I thought that ending was BOLLOCKS!
Now I'm not saying the movie was entirely bad. The first half of the movie was great, but went downhill afterwards. Despite that, I found it more enjoyable than I Am Legend, the previous movie Will Smith was in. Now THAT had to be one of the worst films I've ever seen. Never have I seen such a boring and predictable film in my life.
And that's everything about my time in London. I will be going down there again, but we've not decided when exactly I'll go again. I'm guessing sometime in October/November when my sister is back there for her second year in University. I certainly look forward to going back there again. :)
...Holy shit, only 4 days left!
Oh, to you TLDR'ing bastards, here's a summary of what happened:
-London was great.
-My sister's boyfriend got back home on Saturday and celebrated his birthday.
-Iron Maiden kicked a lot of ass at Twickenham Stadium.
-Hancock was OK, but the second half was terrible.
See you all on Monday.
Also, here's an epic Tomb Raider III video:
HAPPY 31ST BIRTHDAY!!
Here's a picture of your awesome smiley!

Notes:
* This includes singles, EPs, compilation and live albums as well as studio albums.
* I prefer buying CDs over downloading them (regardless of whether it's legal or not). If you prefer to download music rather than purchasing CDs, I don't mind that at all (besides legal issues, of course).
* My latest additions are highlighted in bold.
* No links to all these albums simply because they'll take up too much characters. Want to know more about a certain CD on my list, Google it!
* My dad's CDs don't count since they're HIS CDs and not mine. The artists I like from his CD collection are The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Mike Oldfield, Pink Floyd and Queen.
* The picture on this news post is my favourite 25 albums (in no order) out of all my CDs.

I've already said I'm back from my holiday, but I haven't mentioned about my whole time there until now. So how was my time in Lanzarote? Overall, it was bad. There were good parts of this holiday, but the downfalls made it an unenjoyable holiday. However, I'll mention the good points first:
The food at the restaurant in the hotel was nice. Usually I'm not so great with buffet restaurants in foreign countries, but I actually gave different foods a chance and enjoyed them. The drinks were great. Since the hotel was all inclusive, we were able to have as much drinks as we wanted, so I enjoyed having cups and cups of Hot Chocolate in the mornings and at night and glasses of coke in between those times.
The Internet cafe at the hotel was quite good, unlike the atrocious one in Cuba. The most I spent on one night was only 20 minutes, but it was enough for me to check what my friends have said while I've been away. My only complaints about their Internet cafe were the cost for a short amount of time and the fact that the keyboards were set to Spanish, so most of the characters were changed around from the English keyboard. I found that a complete nuisance. I know I was using a computer in a Spanish island, but I just wish they could have had some of the keyboards set to English to make it easier to type.
Fortunate for me, I didn't have to lie around on any beaches for a single second. I was hoping we weren't going to some beach far away from our hotel, but that wasn't necessary since there was a beach right outside where we were. Only my dad really bothered with the beach while me and my mum just stayed around the pool area for most of the days.
So those were all the good points about the holiday. Now for the downfalls:
Like I've said on a few news posts ago, I don't enjoy hot weather in foreign countries at all. So I didn't enjoy the weather at all except at night time when it was much cooler. I will admit, I did like the place when it was night time, but for the day, it wasn't my cup of tea.
Another thing I've explained about this holiday before is that it was just me and my parents going, while my sister went to Burma last Friday. With just being with my parents, the holiday felt slow as fuck. Not only it was really boring most of the time, but my mum was being extremely annoying one night by talking to me about a bunch of nonsense that I didn't even care about. I was wanting to tell her to shut the hell up, but whatever she was saying I was just like "Yeah", "Right", "OK", etc. She was starting to piss me off, but I refrained myself from yelling at her.
What I also hated about my time away were the problems I had at the airports and the flight coming back home. At the airport going to Lanzarote, I was fucking searched! This is the fourth holiday in a row where this bullshit happened to me and I'm getting sick of it! All those four times were random searches and I fucking hate it when it happens to me!
The queues to check in to and from Lanzarote were an hour long. Not very good service for both times, but it wasn't bad compared to what the plane flight going back home was like. For when we were on the flight going back, the pilot claimed the plane didn't have enough fuel to get back and had to stop at an airport halfway to refuel. He also said the situation was "unavoidable", but I'm pretty sure it wasn't. And to take the fucking piss, throughout the whole flight and the two hour delay due to refuelling and waiting for the plane to take off again, there was a fucking kid sitting right behind me who was screaming her fucking head off and was also kicking my fucking seat! I had to put up with that brat for six hours straight and it was a fucking nightmare. The screaming from that kid was so loud, not even listening to heavy metal full blast on my MP3 Player was loud enough to drown the sound.
As soon as we were able to take our suitcases from the airport and get back home, I was so relieved. It felt good to be back home. I was really looking forward to getting back, seeing my pets and being able to use an English keyboard once again.
Now that I'm back, I'm now really looking forward to the next few months, most especially next month. There is only 26 days until I turn 18. Now I've already said everything about myself looking forward to that day, but damn, I can't believe there's only that little amount of days left. I just find it hard to believe how things are getting close now. :O
And about Flash, I'll be working on my favourite PMs flash, but I still need a bit of time before I start working on it. So far, I've done catching-up on all the journals to see and all the latest videos to watch, but I still have some more catching up to do. I should be ok to work on the flash in a day or two. :)
So yep, that's everything.

I'll say something about my holiday once I've done catching-up on stuff.

Posted by Bahamut May. 25, 2008 @ 5:23 PM EDTSince I've not said much since I wrote up that journal about myself in London, I'm going to post all the latest updates to you all regarding several topics. They go by:
-Work
-My rabbits
-Counting down to my 18th birthday, my 100th flash and dreading my holiday in June.

Work placement in Bootle is still going great. I was supposed to finish it this week, but since I'm enjoying the place a lot and missed five days working there, I requested another two weeks at the place. There's been no objections to this and I can work there for another two weeks, even if I'm not getting any pay for it being a work placement. Unfortunately, there are no vacancies right now, but whenever there are some, I am sure to apply there. However, I was hoping I could get employed at the end of the 6/8 week work placement.
There's another place that I applied to around six weeks ago. I've had an interview at this place and the interview did go well. Sadly, they've still not clearly told me whether I've got a job there or not, but I have been phoning up a few times asking for the latest updates. The employer recently told me that I'll hear from him either Wednesday or Thursday. Hopefully I do get somewhere with this.

There's been some unfortunate events for one of my pets. Two weeks ago, one of the rabbits died all of sudden. This made me feel depressed since I didn't expect her to go so soon. Sure, she may have had some weight problems, but she didn't look terrible during her last few days. :( The other rabbit has been very lonely since, so we've had to get a new rabbit for the him. Unfortunately, the new addition hasn't felt very welcome in our back garden due to our old rabbit attacking her several times. We've had to keep a close eye on them and broke up any fights between them two. They're starting to get used to each other, however, but we're still going to make sure they don't attack each other.

IT'S THE FINAL COUNTDOWN! DO DO DOOO DO! DO DO DOO DO DOOO!
...The final countdown to what? Well, a few things. There's only 48 days left until my 18th birthday and I'm only getting more and more excited about it. I'm not fully sure what presents I want for my birthday, however, but I do hope to see many people at my party. We (i.e. me and my family) have planned to invite many people such as our family, my friends and even going as far as to inviting all my classmates from primary school.
Inviting all my classmates from primary school may sound like I'm taking it too far (don't worry, there were only the 8 of us in one class unlike other schools that may have a class of 20), but one of the things I'd like to happen on my 18th birthday is to see all my old friends again. Some of them I still talk to, but the rest I haven't seen in YEARS! I mean, I'm not sure how they look now, how they're doing in life, etc. So my birthday party will be a great opportunity to meet them all once again. I'd love to hear from all my old friends again and I'm pretty sure they'd like to hear from myself and the others as well. :) This will be one of the highlights of my 18th birthday.
Of course, when I'm 18 I can legally drink in the public. That sounds good and all, but I won't be drinking too much. And by too much, I mean getting really drunk. I'm a responsible drinker and a drink or two for one night is enough for me. :)

What else am I counting down to? There's myself getting closer and closer to submitting the 100th flash. I'm only 7 flashes away from that epic goal (or 6 on Wednesday). While that sounds very close, it doesn't mean I'll be there in a month or two. In a few months time, I could still be aiming for that goal. That's because of what I hope to do on my 100th flash. To avoid as much disappointments as possible, I'll not only need to make make a plot even more epic than Pokémon Bahamut Version and both parts of A Bahamut's Xmas Tale 2, but I'm gonna try and make improvements on my graphics and animation, most especially making my attempt to replace the Bahamut sprite figure with my own drawn version. It won't be easy, but I'm gonna do my best. :)
I have already made plans on what flashes I'll be working on before I make my 100th movie. The seventh episode in the Edgar N' Locke series is 99% complete and will be submitted this Wednesday, which will mark the first anniversary of the series and the third anniversary of my first flash Cigaro.
My other flash ideas are:
95th: A standard Bahamut flash using the very first voice recordings of Graham by Pokelord-EX.
96th: My favourite reviews.
97th: My favourite private messages.
98th: A big scene mix-up flash similar to Best of Bahamut.
99th: I won't say anything about the plot, but this could be my last flash for a few months until my 100th movie is finished.
100th: You'll find out when it's done.

And is there something else I'm counting down to? Well, there's my holiday to Lanzarote for a week on 8th June. To be honest, I'm not looking forward to this holiday one bit. First of all, I don't like the hot weather at all, especially in foreign countries. I'm always needing to stay in the shade because it's too hard for me to cope with the heat.
Second, I don't like sitting around in beaches for hours while my parents and my sister do whatever they want. I cannot go in the sea water because it fucking burns my skin. Another thing about beaches, I despise the sand. I just find trying to wash the sand off, having sand in my sandals, etc, a downright nuisance. So for these reasons, it's pointless for me to go to any beaches. I've never enjoyed them in the past, I don't enjoy them now and I don't think I'll ever enjoy them. Maybe I'll change my mind the future, but...Well, I'll just see what I'm like in 10 - 20 years time.
Third, my sister won't be with us this time since she had money saved up to go to Burma sometime in June with her boyfriend. Even after the recent cyclone disaster, she's still willing to go. However, she claims she won't be anywhere near the affected areas. Me and my parents weren't happy about this, but really, it's up to her. So without my sister there to make the holiday more interesting, I'm gonna be bored to death with just my parents for a whole week. On the bright side, it's not two fucking weeks like when I went to that shithole Cuba.
Lastly, I don't really like having my daily routine messed up. I'm not saying that so I could be at home most of the time, but I really hate trying to get back to my routine when I've been away for at least a few days (going to London is acceptable, though), I always feel like shit. This is something I don't like at all.
So those are my reasons why I'm dreading this holiday. I wish I wasn't going, but it's too late to say that now. Plus, if I say any of these things, I'll just get yelled at by mum. Now I have no choice but to go away for a week and be very bored for the whole time (the DS may not be enough). On the bright side, this holiday should be over before I know it.
I apologise for bitching about my holiday too much, but that's my honest thoughts about them. I really have a huge lack of interest in these sort of holidays.
